Vietnam MOST and MIC have merged together

On March 6, 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a ceremony to announce the organizational structure after merging with the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC). After the merger, the two sides agreed to take the name as Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST)

On March 2, 2025, the Government issued Decree No. 55/2025/ND-CP regulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Accordingly, in the organizational structure, the Ministry of Science and Technology has 25 units listed in Decree 55 and a number of professional units.
The Ministry of Science and Technology also announced decisions to add deputies at 25 units and leaders of heads and deputies of public professional units, 3 enterprises under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Minister of Science and Technology – Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: “The merger of the two ministries is not only a change in organization but also has profound strategic significance. We not only inherit the achievements of the two previous ministries but also have the opportunity to create new breakthroughs”. “The new Ministry of Science and Technology was established with the vision of becoming a pioneer in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. These are the three important pillars for the country to make a breakthrough, develop rapidly and sustainably, and become a developed country with high income by the middle of the century. From today, the new Ministry of Science and Technology with great responsibility will continue its mission of creating breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation.
These tasks have been clearly defined in Resolution 57 of the Politburo. The Ministry of Science and Technology is the core force to realize Resolution 57,” Minister Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed.
