Vietnam adds 6 GHz band (frequency range 5925 – 6425 MHz) for Wi-Fi devices
On March 31, 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) issued Circular No. 01/2025/TT-BKHCN on: “Amending and supplementing a number of contents in Appendices 2, 10 and 16 issued together with Circular No. 08/2021/TT-BTTTT dated October 14, 2021 of the Minister of Information and Communications stipulating the List of radio equipment exempted from radio frequency use licenses, technical conditions and accompanying exploitation”.
Circular Effectiveness: The Circular takes effect from May 15, 2025.
Main content:
• Amending the frequency band applicable to Wireless Charging Devices: 315 – 400 kHz
• Adding the Wi-Fi 6 frequency band applicable to Wireless Local Area Network Devices (WLAN/ RLAN): 5925 – 6425 MHz
The addition of the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi is expected to be a strong boost for future technologies and applications such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), high-quality video streaming (4K/8K), and advanced Internet of Things (IoT) services.
